World’s largest ancestry firm to open new HQ in Dublin

ABOUT 35 jobs are to be created as the world's largest family history resource opens its international centre. is to run worldwide operations from Sir John Rogerson's Quay in Dublin from September.

At present there are 15 staff in the city which will grow to more than 50 over two years.

Olivier van Calster,'s vice president, said Dublin was a perfect fit for the expansion.

"Ireland was chosen for a number of reasons, not least because of the great availability of talented people, but also because it is a country that has a long history of emigration and plays a significant role in the family history of people across the globe," he said.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton added: " is a very welcome addition to Ireland's growing cluster of online companies." is the world's largest online family history resource, with more than two million paying subscribers.

It has added more than 10 billion records to the site over 15 years and users have created more than 34 million family trees.
