Why businesses should welcome the Companies Bill with open arms

NO less than 1,400 pages long – the single largest piece of legislation ever put through the Dail in the history of the State – the Companies Bill does not make for easy bedtime reading.

Yesterday was the deadline for submissions from the public, meaning a select group of lucky TDs and senators now have the pleasure of sifting through the bill at committee stage as the legislation slowly but surely makes its way towards a vote.

Business owners, though, have more to look forward to. Aimed at simplifying existing rules and cutting the cost of setting up and running a company, the bill is a major step towards making their lives easier. Below are seven reasons why your average small business should welcome it with open arms.
