MOST entrepreneurs start with small steps – but this team has taken one huge leap. Liam Fox (16) and his team from Jesus and Mary Secondary School in Co Mayo hit the jackpot after a retailer invested in their Heel Helper product.

They designed a small device that slips over any heel and protects the shoe while driving. This weekend, Heel Helpers went on sale in three shops in Mayo at a price of €9.99.

Not to be outdone, James Devaney (13) and his team from Sligo Grammar School have produced a bird nesting box that is €70 cheaper than its rival and has already sold out.

It is all due to the annual Student Enterprise Awards that take place in Croke Park this Wednesday, where finalists will compete to attend a bootcamp to boost their business acumen.
