Weak euro is good news for Irish firms

LAST week's further fall in the value of the euro against sterling, with the single currency dipping to just 82p against the British currency this week, is good news for a wide range of Irish companies.

Two groups of Irish companies are set to benefit from the decline in the value of the euro -- those who export to the UK and those who have large UK operations (there are several companies which fall into both categories).

Among the exporters set to benefit from dearer sterling are Kerry, Glanbia and C&C, while companies with large UK operations whose results will benefit when they are converted back into weaker euro are Kerry, DCC, Ryanair, Greencore and Grafton.
