UPC On Demand service accessed 21 million times
THE way we watch television continues to change, with figures from UPC saying its on-demand service has been used more than 21 million times in its first year.
UPC On Demand offers customers access to the likes of the RTE Player and TV3 on demand.
It also offers access to an increasing selection of series and films that can be rented directly.
The new figures come as UPC begins informing customers of plans to hike its prices for a range of services.
First revealed by the Irish Independent last month, the increase will see some customers' bills go up by €30 a year.
UPC On Demand manager Shane Loughrey-Grant said the service had been a "fantastic success" so far.
"It has transformed how UPC customers use television, and 90pc of our On Demand-capable customers have used the service since its launch," he said.
"We're currently refreshing our On Demand content, adding new seasons of our most popular US series.
"We're also refreshing our library movies so that customers will have more choice than ever when it comes to watching what they want, when they want."
