Construction firm Townmore is to create new jobs after winning high-profile projects worth an estimated €130m.

The projects include an extension to the historic Wynn's Hotel in Dublin's Abbey Street, the development of Cork's new Windsor Hotel, as well as apartment builds in north Dublin and London.

Townmore is to build 440 apartments as part of an €80m project in Donaghmede and a further 55 apartments in north London. Managing director James Godley said the pipeline of projects secured for 2020 would see at least 90 new jobs and that turnover at the newly rebranded firm is expected to increase by 25pc over the next 12 to 18 months.

"We are looking for steady growth rather than quick turnover," said Godley. "A number of contractors have got into trouble because they have just gone crazy and haven't been able to maintain progress."

Godley highlighted the Wynn's Hotel project as particularly interesting.

"We're putting two storeys on top of an historic city centre building. It's a keystone for future conservation projects," he said.
