Topaz and McDonald's to open two new facilities on busy motorways

Topaz Business Desk Business Desk

Topaz and McDonald’s are to partner in a new venture that will see the fast food outlet set up two new restaurants at new Topaz facilities on Irish motorways.

The new sites are to be developed by Topaz at Junction 5 of the M9 in Carlow and at Junction 14 near Fermoy in county Cork.

It is claimed that the two petrol stations will provide 230 new jobs once both facilities are complete, with an additional 100 to be created during the construction phase.

The Fermoy development will be undertaken in conjunction with developer JR Oronco and is earmarked for completion in autumn of this year. The Carlow site will open next March.

“The development represents a very significant investment by Topaz, and we are also delighted to be able to bring a large number of jobs to both Cork and Carlow,” said Niall Anderton, managing director of Topaz.
