Developer Johnny Ronan's Tanat has lodged plans to add another floor on the tallest permitted building in Dublin.

Earlier this year, Mr Ronan's firm secured planning permission from An Bord Pleanála for an 'iconic' 22-storey building rising to an 88-metre height from George's Quay and Tara Street.

The appeals board reversed a decision by Dublin City Council that turned down planning permission for the development.

Now, Mr Ronan has lodged plans with the Council for an additional floor - but the height of the building will not increase.

The application by Tanat is seeking one additional floor of the tower's hotel component, increasing the number of rooms to 157 from 107.

An Taisce had opposed the original plan. A decision is due on the new planning application in November.
