TALKS to save the Carlow-based animal diet feeder firm Keenan Systems have been successful with nutrition firm Alltech agreeing to purchase it for an undisclosed sum.

Alltech confirmed all 222 jobs, including 176 in Ireland, would be saved as part of the agreement reached with the receivers.

It was the 14th purchase for the Pearse Lyons-owned Alltech globally since 2011.

It is understood employees at the firm established by Richard Keenan have been told the jobs would be maintained and that the buyers intend to build 1,000 of the mixer wagons that Keenans is well-known for this year.
