SuperValu posted record retail sales of €2.58bn in 2014, spurred by the addition of 24 former Superquinn stores.
The retailer plans to invest €18m in opening four new stores this year, creating 280 new jobs. One of the stores will be in Athlone, Co Westmeath, and another will be in Kilcock, Co Kildare.
Managing director Martin Kelleher said the company is “satisfied” with its trading performance, having had a good Christmas period.
SuperValu has 24.9pc of the Irish grocery market – behind only Tesco - and serves over 2.6 million customers a week.
