Studio where Bond was filmed sets up base in Ireland
The movie production company that facilitated the filming of blockbusters such as the Harry Potter and James Bond movies has launched an Irish operation.
Pinewood Productions Ireland Ltd will provide for the company's international clients who are looking to shoot in Ireland.
It will act as a facilitator for Pinewood's clients who wish to access the Irish market and will be staffed by a head of production who will be based here. The company will offer services such as pre-production budgeting and location scouting.
The firm said that it would also be focused on how film crews can implement Ireland's recently extended Section 481 tax incentive, which provides a financial boost for foreign investors in Irish-produced films.
A spokesman for Pinewood said the incentive was a major reason for the studio establishing an Irish operation and said that it had seen interest from its international clients.
Pinewood Studios' commercial director, Nick Smith, said the company was "delighted" to be launching in Ireland and added that the new firm "will enhance the services we can offer our international clients".
It started work on an extension to its main UK operations recently, where it is to spend £200m to double the size of its 100,000 square metres of facilities. Recent movies filmed at Pinewood include the recent Avengers film, and the new Star Wars picture.
