STATSports, which recently scored a £1bn (€1.14bn) deal with the US Soccer Federation, has signed a new deal with the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) - in time for the World Cup.

The Newry- headquartered tech firm have tied up a long-term partnership with the CBF that will see it provide its APEX Team Series GPS device to all national teams within the federation.

The value of the deal was not disclosed. However, STATSports, co-founder and CCO Sean O'Connor said the agreement is "huge" for the firm.

"Brazil are an iconic brand in world football, with a rich history of success," he said. "We look forward to supporting Brazil to further on-field success at this summer's World Cup and for many years to come."
