THE 'spirit of Dublin's whiskey industry' is making a return as the first distillery in the capital for some 125 years opens for business - and tourists.
The €10m Teeling Whiskey distillery and visitors centre threw open its doors for the first time yesterday ahead of its official opening on Saturday.
The development, located in Newmarket in the heart of Dublin's Liberties, is owned by Teeling Whiskey founder Jack Teeling and his brother Stephen.
The pair are on a mission to capture "the character and essence of Dublin" in both their product and their new premises which allows connoisseurs and novices to learn about the history of the industry and to sample their craft.
"We are delighted to bring back the tradition of distilling to Dublin and are confident our distillery will become a must-visit destination for Dublin tourists," Jack Teeling said.
