Specsavers inks Ladies GAA deal


IN A move that will continue a theme from their sponsorship of referees in the Scottish football leagues and rugby's Magners League, the opticians Specsavers has signed a two-year deal with Ladies Gaelic Football to sponsor their national All-Ireland panel of referees. The sponsorship will provide a new referee jersey design and support kit for the 60-strong panel of national competition referees.

Home holidays hit silver screen


A NEW campaign from Failte Ireland hit Irish cinema screens this week. Failte Ireland Lakelands & Inland Waterways have hit the big screen with their campaign encouraging people to 'staycation' this year and holiday at home in Ireland. Film fans will get a chance to win free breaks in the lakelands or on the inland waterways. The campaign is being run through Carlton Screen Advertising.

Cooley the toast of whiskey world


THE Cooley Distillery, Ireland's only independent Irish whiskey distiller, has matched the record it set in 2009 by winning 10 Gold Medals at the 2010 International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC). The IWSC medals are said to be the most prestigious honours bestowed to the drinks industry as they are judged solely on the quality of the wine or spirit. Cooley collected a total of 20 medals at the IWSC this year.

Globrix contest offers €1,000 prize
