Some NAMA business will stay outside FoI legislation
THE State has published legislation extending Freedom of Information to more public bodies – but elements of the National Treasury Management Agency and NAMA will remain exempt.
Commercial semi-state agencies, including the newly formed Irish Water, An Post, Bord Gais, Coillte, Dublin Airport Authority, ESB and Tourism Ireland are also not covered under the new laws.
The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform said certain exemptions will be provided for some bodies to not affect their ability to perform their functions in "the interests of the security or financial position of the State".
Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin said the extension of FOI is central to the Government's reform agenda.
