Silver Hill's 'London' duck moving east
Monaghan-based meat producer Silver Hill has taken a step closer to launching its 'London Duck' in Malaysia and Indonesia.
The family-owned company, which was established in 1962, signed distribution agreements with the two companies in the Asian countries.
Barry Cullen, head of sales at the company, travelled to Asia for the signing of the agreements. He recently presented a member of the TungLok Group with a plaque to mark the restaurant group serving its 100,000th Silver Hill 'London Duck'.
The TungLok Group owns and manages more than 35 restaurants in Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, China and Vietnam.
Already the Monaghan duck can be found in around 50 of the top hotels and restaurants in Singapore, on a growing number of menus in Hong Kong and in Macau's Mandarin Oriental five-star hotel. Ironically, the Irish-reared fowl is known in the Far East as 'London Duck' because it initially took off among the restaurants of the UK capital's China Town district.
