Shannon retail makeover planned


A major redevelopment of retail space at Shannon Airport is being considered, according to Dublin Airport Authority chief executive Declan Collier.

Mr Collier told an Oireachtas committee meeting yesterday that a final decision would be made by the end of the year. He also defended being paid a €51,000 bonus last year, but declined to detail benchmarks that resulted in the payment at a time when the DAA posted a €13m loss.

Sutherland joins Nestle team


NESTLE Ireland has appointed Oliver Sutherland as the company's new country manager. Mr Sutherland has responsibility for Nestle's operations in Ireland and its portfolio of products across the confectionery, beverage and petcare categories.

Which Course Expo at the RDS


THE Which Course Expo 2010 will take place in Dublin at the RDS on August 28 and 29. The expo acts as a showcase for evening, weekend and online learning courses in Ireland. It will have career coaching and practical seminars as well as a number of high-profile celebrity guest speakers over the two-day event. Admission is free.

Nissan to drive up staff numbers


CAR giant Nissan has started production of a new engine that could lead to the creation of 200 jobs, it was announced yesterday. The two-litre petrol engine is being built at the firm's plant in Sunderland, England, as part of a £15m (€18m) investment plan over the next few years.

Petrobras delays share offering


THE Brazilian state-run oil producer, Petrobras, has delayed one of the world's largest share offerings by two months. It said Brazil's energy regulator would not have an estimate of the value of oil until August. The deal is valued at $86bn (€70bn).
