Forestry body Coillte has announced a new chief executive. Fergal Leamy will join the semi-state organisation from Terra Firma Capital Partners, where he has worked for the past four years based in the UK and Australia.

Coillte chairman John Moloney said Mr Leamy has significant domestic and international experience focused mainly in agri, food and natural resources.

"The breadth of his experience in relevant sectors will be a significant asset to the future development of Coillte," Mr Moloney said.

" His record of transforming and growing businesses and managing a diverse portfolio of assets is exceptional and we look forward to Coillte benefiting from his experience and skills."

Mr Leamy is currently a director at Terra Firma Capital Partners based in London where he has responsibility for three of the company's portfolio businesses - a multi-billion motorway service station business in Germany, a large beef business in Australia and a multi-site hotel business in the UK.
