Former Anglo chairman Sean FitzPatrick (above) was one of the well-heeled investors who ploughed money into Mainstream Renewables, the green-energy firm chaired by ex-Anglo director Fintan Drury.

Mainstream was set up by eco-entrepreneur Eddie O'Connor after the sale of his Airtricity business in 2008. The company raised €26m in loan notes from clients of Dolmen Stockbrokers. These loans can be converted into equity. Mr FitzPatrick's €1m stake was revealed as part of his bankruptcy proceedings.
