Screen success: Accumulated profits at Laura Whitmore firm rise to over €775,000
TV presenter Laura Whitmore's media firm enjoyed a bumper year as accumulated profits topped the €775,000 mark.
New accounts show that accumulated profits at the firm increased from £643,588 to £700,164 (€775,369) in the 12 months to the end of March this year.
The combined value of the company's cash pile and money owed to the firm by debtors last year increased from £700,792 to £740,444.
One of Ireland's most successful broadcasters operating abroad, Ms Whitmore is now reaping the dividends from her high profile work with MTV, BBC, Channel 4 and ITV in the UK.
The firm is called Yer Wan Ltd - it was formerly Laura Whitmore Ltd. The presenter's Twitter profile, followed by over 372,000, refers to Whitmore as 'Yer wan off the telly'.
The £56,576 increase in profits follows a £139,998 increase in the prior year. Profits rose by £175,051 in fiscal 2016 and £131,879 in fiscal 2015.
Underlining the rapid growth in wealth at the firm, at the end of March 2012, Whitmore's firm's accumulated profits stood at £20,648 with cash of £26,982.
The Bray woman studied journalism at Dublin City University (DCU) where she edited a student magazine and worked as a researcher for Newstalk for a period.
In 2008, Ms Whitmore entered the Myspace/MTV Pick Me competition and beat 3,000 other hopefuls to win a coveted MTV news role on the international music channel.
