Score yourself a World Cup DVD collection
AS football fans steel themselves for a World Cup in which we were cheated out of a place, the Irish Independent is offering the nation's soccer enthusiasts the chance to relieve the glory of tournaments past. A new promotion kicking off this week will allow readers to collect 15 action-packed DVDs with highlights from every World Cup between 1930 and 2006.
The first edition, Germany 2006, will be free with Saturday's paper; while the other 14 will cost just €4.99 plus a promotional token from that week's Irish Independent.
The DVDs, which usually retail at €12.99, are expected to be available in up to 6,000 retail outlets in the Republic of Ireland.
The promotion will be supported by in-store branding and dedicated radio advertising.
"The introduction of our FIFA World Cup DVD collection underpins our commitment to providing excellence in sport while still being great value," says Independent Newspapers (Ireland) marketing boss Geoff Lyons.
"With 15 DVDs of World Cup action readers can relive the glory moments of Italia 90, amongst others, as they collect the ultimate World Cup series.
"With World Cup fever taking hold, this is a must-have collection for all soccer fanatics."
