THE Dublin-listed software business Scisys has secured a €5m contract with GMV in Spain.

Scisys provides IT and software services across a number of sectors including media and defence, while GMV is the prime contractor for the European Space Agency's ground control system.

The deal is for the continuation and further enhancement of three elements in the Galileo ground control segment. Galileo is Europe's own global navigation satellite system, providing a global positioning service which is under civilian control.

Under the Galileo programme, GMV supplies several elements of the ground segment, such as the orbital control system.

The contract has been awarded under a programme funded by the European Union and the European Space Agency.

"This further contract win underlies the strong position that Scisys Space holds in the European space industry," Klaus Heidrich, CEO of Scisys, said.

In November the company was admitted to trading in Dublin, making it the first Brexit refugee to list on the Irish Stock Exchange.

Last month it secured a €11.2m contract with Thales Alenia Space France for a scheme related to the Galileo satellites.
