Salon chain calls creditors' meeting


A CHAIN of five hair-and-beauty salons that is being pursued by the Collector General through the courts has called a series of creditors' meetings to wind up operations. The meetings for companies that make up the Free Spirit Hair & Beauty Salon chain are to be held on January 29.

Mortgage lender posts €5m profits


A DUBLIN-registered company that provides inter-group finance to subprime lender Start Mortgages returned profits of almost €5m in the 16 months to last March. The profits for Mortgage Lender Ltd are revealed in new accounts filed with the Companies' Office and were earned on interest income of just over €6.5m.

Phone retailer ups its forecast


Retailer Carphone Warehouse increased its full-year forecast for the second time in two months helped by Christmas sales in the UK, the firm said yesterday. Earnings per share in the 12 months to March will be at the top end of the 14p to 15p forecast made in November.

Murphy heads up treasurers body


ESB's group treasurer, Brendan Murphy, has been appointed president of the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers for 2010. Mr Murphy, who manages ESB's foreign exchange, liquidity, debt and counterparty risks, is a graduate of Harvard's advanced management programme.
