Saint goes marching on with €406,000 cash pile
The cash pile at the marketing firm owned by Ireland striker Shane Long last year topped €405,000.
The Tipperary man, along with Ireland teammates, is sitting out the World Cup but his commercial company has been active during the year with accumulated profits dropping marginally to €359,442.
The new accounts lodged by Long's Springfield Promotions Ltd with the Companies Office show that the cash pile dipped from €415,054 to €406,863.
Accumulated profits during the year decreased from €360,332.
Springfield Promotions Ltd was set up by the Long in 2011 to exploit the commercial opportunities from his soccer career in the UK.
The monies generated by the firm would not compare to the annual earnings that Long receives from his professional contract.
In July 2016, Long - who tuned 31 in January - signed a four-year contract at Southampton until 2020, after scoring 21 goals in his first two seasons with the Saints.
Separate accounts lodged by Long's former international colleague, Robbie Keane show that his own firm, Robbie Keane Promotions at the end of December 2016 totalled £462,629 (€524,921).
