Ryanair and Vodafone are entering a partnership which will focus on the budget airline's communication and IT requirements right across Europe.

According to a statement from the airline this morning, Ryanair's ticketing, check-in, ground crew, inflight crew and pilot systems will be supported under the new business union.

Providing fixed line and mobile 3G and 4G functionality across Ryanair’s 189 locations in Europe and North Africa, the parntership with Vodafone will also allow the roll out of iPads in the flight deck, creating paperless cockpits.

A new inflight sales system will also be facilitated - another addition to Ryanair’s “Always Getting Better” improvement programme.

"This partnership with Vodafone will provide us with the technical support to allow us to make these improvements quickly and seamlessly, including the introduction of paperless cockpits and a swifter inflight sales system,” Ryanair’s Chief Technology Officer, John Hurley said.

Enterprise Director for Vodafone Ireland, Anne Sheehan added that the deal for Vodafone in Ireland is "most significant".

"Ryanair is a company that is driving innovative technological solutions in the airline industry and Vodafone is delighted to partner with them to drive this evolution,” she said.
