Ryanair strike action suspended after agreement between management and union
Ryanair pilots have suspended a planned 24-hour strike after management agreed to recognise the unions.
In a statement released today, IMPACT said it has suspended a planned one day strike of Ryanair pilots on Wednesday after company management agreed to recognise the union as the representative of Irish-based pilots.
Trade union IMPACT released a statement this evening, saying it will meet Ryanair management on Tuesday evening to discuss its terms.
"The union asked management to release its Ryanair pilot representatives to prepare for and attend the meeting," it said.
"The union acknowledged the principled determination of Ryanair pilots, which it said had made this breakthrough possible, and said it looked forward to establishing a positive relationship with Ryanair company management."
On Friday, the airline said it would recognise unions for the first time every in its 32-year history in a last-minute attempt to avert strike action ahead of the busy Christmas period.
