Ryanair’s April traffic grew by 14pc year-on-year to 11.3 million customers, compared to 9.9 million customers in April 2016, the airline said.

The airlines load factor, that is how many seats they fill on each flight, jumped 3pc points to 96pc “on the back of lower fares and the continuing success of our “Always Getting Better” customer experience programme,” Kenny Jacob of Ryanair said.

Meanwhile their rolling annual traffic to April grew by 13pc to 121.3 million customers.

“Customers can look forward to even lower fares when they make advance bookings for summer and winter 2017,” Jacob said.

Shares in the company at close of business yesterday were €16.1150 up 1.0345pc points.
