Ryan heiress wins New York deal to stock her new line of fragrance
Businesswoman Danielle Ryan has scored an exclusive deal with the iconic New York retailer Barneys, to stock a new range of fragrances.
Ryan, who is the granddaughter of aviation pioneer Tony Ryan and daughter of Cathal Ryan, is building up a luxury lifestyle retail venture called Roads Group, with perfume, publishing and film production projects in train.
She introduced the perfume line to trade buyers and the gathered press at a major trade event in Florence, Italy, earlier this month.
Ryan wouldn't be drawn on how much the contract is worth, but the collection will be stocked in Barneys stores across the United States from early next year, opening up access to a huge market.
"I'm delighted with the momentum that is continuing to build following the successful launch in Florence," she said. "The industry's response to the product, concept and installation was extremely positive."
The publishing arm of the Dublin-based business has just delivered a range of classic novel reprints, new releases of titles like The Great Gatsby and Wuthering Heights with bespoke covers designed by Irish design studio Conor & David and selling in Eason, Waterstones and Hodges Figgis.
Roads Group has been in development for the past year, with a full business launch planned for March 2014.
Intertrade Group, the international company that makes Diptique candles, is backing the fragrance part of Ryan's business.
