There was good news for the Co Antrim family business Wrightbus - of which William Wright (93) is the chairman - when it won orders for more than 200 buses from customers in Hong Kong last year. But the order came after a difficult year for the firm which saw a big drop in profits and two rounds of redundancies. Pre-tax profits were £1.5m (€1.7m) in 2017, down from £10.7m (€12m) in 2016. The company produced hundreds of London's red Routemaster buses and employs 1,500 people worldwide. It has factories and assembly lines in China, Singapore, India and Abu Dhabi. Wright made headlines as a vocal supporter of Brexit.
