Telecoms entrepreneur Gilbert Little (67) spotted the potential of text messaging and later mobile internet as a means of communication early on. Based in Dalkey, he made around €57m from the sale of Aldiscon and Apion. He profited from the $120m (€105m) sale of Aeopna to IBM in 2013. These days, Little owns 27pc of IT firm, Ammeon, where he is a director and which created 100 jobs in Dublin last year. He also owns a small stake in Accuris.
