Listed pub chain Wetherspoon is growing more slowly here than initially flagged but it is flourishing on Britain's high streets with its fairly priced coffee, food and drinks offering. Last year it won a planning appeal to build a 'superpub' and 100-bed hotel on Dublin's Camden Street.
Keen surfer and Belfast native Tim Martin (62), who now lives in Exeter in south-west England, owns 31pc of the firm. He is also an outspoken supporter of Brexit, roping his 900-plus empire of pubs into the campaign in 2016. His stake in the business is worth about €458m. Shares have risen by about 28pc in the past year. Dividends add another €4m.
