Rosaleen O'Kane (70), her sons Eamonn and Ronan, and daughters Clodagh and Rachel, own around 70pc of Mercury Engineering, one of the country's largest private electrical engineering firms. Recently a majority stake in Mercury was sold in a deal valuing the company at €150m, putting their 70pc stake at €105m.

Headquartered in Dublin, it was set up by the late Frank O'Kane in 1972, who died suddenly in 2007, leaving an estate worth €108m to his wife and children. It has worked on many lucrative projects from Russia to the Gulf and from the Corrib gas field to the Aviva Stadium.
