Former motor racing journalist McNally (86), a Donegal native and long-time associate of Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, spends his time mainly at homes in Switzerland and the Cote d'Azur - where he keeps a Sunseeker yacht - after selling his F1 events, corporate entertainment and trackside advertising business Allsports Management to private equity giant CVC for €275m in 2006.
He previously dated Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Britain's Prince Andrew. A chalet in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Verbier that is believed to be owned by McNally reportedly costs €26,000 a week to rent.
Another of his homes is that of the James Bond creator Ian Fleming, a stately pile on an estate in Wiltshire in southern England. He also reportedly restored another Palladian-style mansion in Oxfordshire the grounds of which feature a deer park and two lakes. A Rich List in a Swiss newspaper once estimated McNally's wealth at closer to €600m.
