Builder and developer Fahy (65) managed to escape the crash through his company Shannon Homes, which has emerged as one of the biggest home builders in the Lucan and Sandyford areas.
The company went unlimited in 2016, which means it doesn't have to publish accounts, but in 2015 shareholders' funds had reached €158m and there was €47m in cash. The low-key builder has been bidding for valuable office blocks and bringing new homes to the market in Dublin's commuter belt. It's thought he was an under-bidder on the Sentinel building in Sandyford. He lives in a period home in Meath and also breeds horses.
