The late Noel Keating, who had a butcher shop in The Liberties in central Dublin, formed the company in Clonee, Co Meath in 1981. His meat processing business went on to become one of the country's biggest private enterprises. Now owned by his children, Liam (47), Catriona (44), Niamh (41) and Stephen (40), it employs 2,500 people and generates annual revenues of 850m. The producer of family favourites such as Big Al's has been expanding of late, becoming a majority shareholder in Greene Farm Foods after it went into receivership. The family have invested in restaurant and property ventures.
