South African banker Gnodde (55) is co-chief executive of Goldman Sachs International, running its operations in Europe.

He has been with Goldman for 30 years and has built its mergers and acquisitions business and played a key role in increasing its activity in Asia. He is a trustee of Kew Gardens in London and of the University of Cape Town Trust. He has an Irish passport and is likely to earn close to 10m per year before tax.
