Former Galway teacher Pat McDonagh set up the first Supermacs in 1978 and has grown the fast food chain to 105 outlets. He also owns the 10m Obama Plaza motorway stop in Offaly as well as the 12-strong Claddagh Irish bar chain in the US. He has also invested in hotels, spending 6m on the Castletroy Park in Limerick and also buying the Charleville Park and Lough Rea hotels. He also owns the franchises for Papa John's Pizza and Quizno's sandwich bars. In 2015, sales were 115m and continue to grow.
