Belfast-born Wheeler and her husband Tony shared 121m in various tranches when BBC Worldwide took control of their Lonely Planet travel guide book business. BBC Worldwide bought 75pc of their share of the company in 2007 and their remaining 25pc in February 2011.
It all began when they bought a 100 camper van and travelled through south Asia in 1973. They wrote a book, Across Asia on the Cheap, and went on to sell over 80m books. Now based in Melbourne, the couple have now turned to full-time philanthropy.
