Bookmaker-turned-investor Donnelly sold his business for about 27m in the 1990s and has traded commercial buildings since then, making a fortune from one building on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Along with wife Marie, Donnelly is a serious art collector with works by Picasso, Matisse, De Kooning, Eileen Gray and Georg Baselitz, many of which were housed in a modernist gallery beside their house on the exclusive Vico Road in Dalkey.
