Former Telecom Éireann engineer Jay Murray set up and sold Murray Telecom and invested in the communications ventures. He was ahead of his time with text messaging and wireless mobile services, making 30.5m when Aldiscon was sold in 1997. He made a third fortune when Apion was bought for 240m by during the dotcom boom. The yacht-owning serial investor has stakes in a number of tech firms including Anam, held through his Mayfair Ventures, which has also invested in London real estate.
