Low-profile beef baron Francis Mallon heads up the 112-year-old Liffey Meats, a Meath-based beef-processing firm that has been run by five generations of the same family. In 2015, Liffey bought a controlling stake in Chiron Viandes a French frozen hamburger company, which had sales of 27m. Run by Cavan-born Mallon, Liffey Meats is seen as a leading second-tier player in the Irish meat-processing sector, behind the likes of Larry Goodman's ABP, Slaney Foods, Kepak and Dawn Meats.
