Belfast-born McCabe floated e-learning company CBT on Nasdaq, making at least 65m from share sales. One of Ireland's most successful tech entrepreneurs, he has also dabbled in property, with his LNC Group buying up assets in Bremen and Scotland.
McCabe's Oyster Investments has backed Fieldaware, Datahug and Fleetmatics. He also invested heavily in breast implant group GE Aesthetics. Oyster is also an investor in renewable energy company Amarenco, which was founded by former Bord Gáis chief John Mullins, and participated in a recent 7m fund-raising.
Not all his investments have succeeded, however. The Oyster Club, an exclusive members club for the super-rich offering stays in luxury homes in Cannes and the Alps, was wound up last year.
