Property magnate Stephen Vernon (65) is probably much richer than previously estimated. Through his listed Green Property he developed the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and other commercial parks before the boom. Then he took Green private in a €1bn deal, selling off a bundle of assets to clear some debts and leaving him with control of the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, which has just been put up for sale with a €1bn-plus price tag. There's about €750m in debt.
He was one of the few property players to dodge the carnage of the crash and came out of it with plenty of dough. Dublin-based Vernon floated off Green REIT, which has built up a €950m portfolio and a €55m rent roll. The motorbike-riding, skiing fanatic is thought to own
a terrific Mediterranean
