Navan man Brosnan (62) is Hollywood royalty, despite not having a hit since Mamma Mia! in 2008. His 37 movies have grossed €1.33bn at the US box office and close to €3.3bn globally. The former TV actor, best known for playing smooth gumshoe detective Remington Steele, helped revitalise the tired James Bond franchise with GoldenEye in 1995.
His four Bond movies grossed more than €540m and he earned at least €35.8m as the world's best-known spy. Brosnan has been linked with a role in the latest instalment of the Sylvester Stallone geriatric action hero franchise the Expendables 4. He has a smashing house in Malibu - although it was damaged by fire two years ago.
"I had just done a week of meditation classes, so I was in this Zen zone of reflection when the sh*t hit the proverbial fan. There were paintings, first-edition books - James Joyce's Ulysses - the Aston Martin. I looked into the garage, and the car cover was engulfed in flames. In that nanosecond, you think, 'Do I try to save it?' But it's a car. You take the blow and move on, give thanks you're alive," he said last year.
