Irish passport-holder Getty (55) is an heir to the world famous Getty oil fortune. His grandfather John Paul Getty was one of the richest men on the planet. Mark is no slouch either. He built up the Getty Images photo library into one of the biggest players in the market, before selling a majority share to private equity buyers - not once but twice for a combined sum of €3.98bn.
More than €850m in dividends has been paid out. However, a price war and some ropey debt conditions have put the business under extreme pressure, leading to the departure of its co-founder and chief executive last year.
Son Joseph married the glamorous Sabine Ghanem in Rome last year, with the wedding attended by Princess Beatrice, amongst others. Getty owns a 2,500-acre estate in Buckinghamshire where his father had built a replica of the iconic Oval cricket grounds.
There is also an exceptionally valuable collection of old books, including rare Shakespeare and Chaucer folios, as well as an eclectic art collection ranging from old masters to Banksy. And a yacht - Getty's family owns a steamer called Tabitha.
