Cigar-chomping Wall Street banker Kelleher (58) was promoted to become president of Morgan Stanley last year, putting him in pole position to take over as chief executive when Jack Gorman calls it a day.

The Cork man collects modern British art and got paid €17.58m in cash and equity in 2014. Previous earnings, dividends and share sales add at least €48m. The big pay cheque was tempered by the fact that shares fell 21pc last year valuing his stake at €13.5m.
