Veteran deal-maker Gilmore (69) was one of the biggest movers and shakers in the 1980s, involved with deals for Arcon and the H.

Williams supermarket chain. He made more then we previously thought. Gilmore hooked up with Michael Holland to buy and develop the Fitzwilliam Hotel, Royal Dublin and Fitzwilliam Belfast, eventually selling out for €24m. He also flipped the Portmarnock Hotel for a profit. Gilmore is now making money from ocean energy and has a €13m stake in Open Hydro, having earlier sold a €14.3m stake.
