Tom Dreelan and family

Ferns, Co Wexford man Dreelan (58) and his brothers Sean and Ciaran are serious North Sea oil players. In 1999 they sold their PSL oil services group to NatWest equity partners for €61m.

"We do not need to work again," Tommy said after the sale. That didn’t last. They set up a new specialised oil services group Qserv and almost a decade later sold it on to Norwegian firm Aker Solutions for about €120m.

Tommy races Porsche Carerras for the Celtic speed motor racing team. Sean Dreelan is another petrol head, owning a red Ferrari 599 GTO. Last year, a white 2010 Porsche 911 GT2 RS coupe, silver 2011 Aston Martin Rapide V12 and grey Toyota Land Cruiser worth a combined €610,000 were stolen from his home near Aberdeen.
