Real estate investor and developer Stephen Vernon (64) turned Green Property from a €24m stock market tiddler into Ireland’s most valuable listed property firm, worth €1bn. And then he took it private in 2004.
Vernon sold off most of the company’s assets to pay down debt and was left with the extremely valuable Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.
The Dublin-based businessman sat out much of the property boom but returned during the crash to do some seriously shrewd buying. He floated Green REIT in 2013 and has bought prime assets at knock down prices.
Vernon and management own 10pc of the €890m valued firm and stand to share in mega bonuses. The motorcycle-riding enthusiast is believed to own some splendid real estate in France.
