U2’s manager and Svengali Paul McGuinness stepped down last year as Live Nation took control of the band’s operations and is now counted as a separate entry in the Rich List for the first time.
U2 have sold 150m albums in 30 years and have broken all records for touring incomes — with McGuinness nabbing a major share. Last year as part of his exit from the U2 empire, he sold his Principle management business in a €26m deal.
McGuinness lives on a huge estate near Avoca in Wicklow. Apart from owning a stake in Ardmore Studios, McGuinness was also an early investor in TV3. He has backed a number of early-stage technology firms, including RapidShare.
